So I basically rock. My former boss took 6 months to look over a deal for new copiers that save us money, and get us an additional copier and still didn't know what to do with it. I look at it for a week. Take another week to write a proposal as to why we would be idiots to not take this deal and to talk it over with the powers at be. And this week, that's right, today, Tuesday, I got the powers at be to sign this proposal and we are getting are 3 new copiers on Monday! Plus I'm saving the company $200/ month. Basically we are getting 3 copiers for $200 less than we are paying for 2 copiers right now AND the price per copy went down from 1 cent for one and 2 cents for the other to 0.007 cents per copy for all 3 copiers. Why didn't we do this sooner?
I met with a vendor today who might be able to design our brochures for $350 instead of the $400 Lucia found. (And that was the cheapest). More money saved. (Why can't I apply more of these principles to my personal life...) They might also do some branding for us that Lucia and I think needs to be implemented pronto. We get a new National President every year, that comes up with a general theme, and then a membership theme. How are we supposed to put out a consistent message about our organization when what we're saying changes every year?!? Well, we can't and that is why no one outside our organization knows what we do. Hopefully we can remedy that.
Came to Lafayette tonight because I had forgotten my phone charger and my battery was about to die. I treated Shaun to Don Pablos. Silly me says, "Oh I think I'll get a salad so I don't have any leftovers." I took 2 boxes home... full... and none of it was Shaun's. So much for that.
So I'm winning in the basketball tourney competition I orchestrated at work. I need to say this now, so after Thursday when I'm not winning, I won't feel so badly. There are 6 people playing; 3 of us are tied with 42 points, but I'm the only one with all 4 Final Four teams left. Everyone else picked Wake Forest, so they are down at least one. Good thing I don't know anything about any of these teams.
I've had so much work to do this week since I missed 3 days last week that I worked 10 hours on Monday, and 8.5 hours today. Plus I brought stuff home to work on, which has left no time for blogging. Good think I get paid overtime. Guess this makes up for laying on the couch dying for 3 days. Well, better get to some of that work I brought home...

I can't believe they lost!
This is a phrase I've been hearing frequently this weekend... mainly from Shaun. More upsets today; hard to keep up. I'm actually anxious to get to work tomorrow and see how my bracket looks. Hopefully I'm not doing to badly. I also want to see how everyone else's bracket is shaping up. Beth and Shaun are ready to burn theirs.
We went to Shaun's dad's for dinner. He made baked spaghetti with garlic bread and salad. He also baked an apple pie for dessert. It was so good. I took home lots of leftovers for this week. I can't turn down free food. Bill was watching the NASCAR race and J. Gordon was in the wrong place at the wrong time and end up in the "multi-car pile up" which was a disaster. He finished, but was down over 75 laps. Some rookie won... and then I heard again, I can't believe he won.
So Krystal and I are all packed and ready to head back. Going to visit with the sweetie a minute as I feel he's been glued to the tube all weekend... and his thesis is due in a week.

The Facebook
So I've been introduced to this concept called "The Facebook." I'm still not completely sure what it is, but apparently you can post things about yourself and meet others through it. Then if you're a member you can "poke" someone, and then they "poke" you back. I'm not really sure what this accomplishes, especially since I don't really liked being poked, but whatever. Anyway, if you would like to see what this looks like, visit my friend Travis' Facebook to get a better idea.
They're Done!
We finished the invitations at 10 PM today! We celebrated with a big bowl of chocolate ice cream with hot fudge. Oh, it was so good and was exactly what I was craving. I'm so excited, and they look so great. We took the first batch over to my grandma earlier. She showed us the shower favors she's working on. I picked out this little bath chalk square that she's wrapping in toole and tying with a ribbon. I'm attaching a note that says "From My Shower To Yours." I thought this was very cute, but it took me a few minutes to explain to my grandmother and great-aunt that this was a play on words. Oh dear. So, the invitations are finished, and I'm very excited.
On an unrelated note, Wake Forest lost. I'm a little sad, although Shaun had them going to the Final Four, so he is understandably upset. I have Louisville in the Final Four in that part of the bracket. Shaun's bracket has more black marks than yellow ones... that's not good. I'm not sure how my bracket looks as it's at work, where I haven't been since last Tuesday. Oh well, I'll find out Monday.
Gas is very expensive. Krystal and I drove all over today trying to find the station with the best price. I finally went back to the place I was originally where is was $2.01/ gallon. Good grief.
Well I'm off to bed as Krystal, Shaun and I are going to church in the morning.

To Do's:
Krystal and I worked on the shower invitations last night. We began the evening with 22 completely finished and ended with 36. But all the brides are colored and our names are written, so all that's left are the cakes. Basically not very much and we should be able to finish them today so I can give them to my Aunt Mary.
So I think I've officially made Shaun and Krystal sick. They both woke up sniffling and coughing. Oh my. I'm sorry guys... if it's any consolation; I'm feeling better.
Krystal and I have to go to my dad's and unload my car full of wedding stuff so Shaun can fit in there. James called at some ungodly hour this morning to inform him that Meijer has PS2 games on sales. Was that really necessary?
Then Stef calls at 9:50 (no one I know would call me at that hour) and leaves me a voicemail saying she realizes it's early, that's I'm probably not up and should be getting my rest and that's she's in Indy and will call later. Again, was that really necessary?
Shaun's neck has been hurting him something fierce. So last night, he decides to sleep on the heating pad, on HI, sans shirt. Needless to say, he woke up with BLISTERS all over his back. Not one of his better moves. I'm waiting on an IM from my mom to see how to treat him. Poor guy. And to top it off, his neck still hurts.
Shaun made Krystal and I cheesy eggs with toast this morning. It was so good. I love him.
Well I better get started on my to do list while I still have some energy.

Yea Krystal!
So Krystal finally took my advice and created a blog that she will hopefully give us all lots to read. It's entitled Little Moments from KH.
Speaking of Krystal... we're working on Shower Invitations the other day (which have taken us about 3 solid days and we may be 50% finished), and we are listening to this very random mixed CD she brought over. This was filled with such classics as Billy Idol, Van Morrison, The Righteous Brothers and Paula Abdul. OK, first let me back up, my dear friend and bridesmaid Stef wants Matchbox 20 to be played during the receiving line at her wedding. Josh, her fiance, as well as every other living soul thinks this idea is... well, not good. I understand that their first date was to a Matchbox 20 concert, but that's a BIG transitions from Rondeau and other Classical favorites. So, anyway, back to the story. So, we're sitting there and Krystal is like, no, hold up, this is going to be my receiving line song... Paula Abdul's "Straight Up Now Tell Me." :) I love her. Now I just have to suggest this to Stef...

Sick AGAIN
I think there's something seriously wrong with me as I am sick again!!! I have acute bronchitis with influenza... lucky me. I missed the last 3 days at work and still feel pretty weak. I was, however, feeling well enough to run a few errands and visit the female doctor for the annual exam. I mean I might as well go when I'm foggy and don't know what's going on.
So, as a result of missing work this week I missed Beth's lasts days at the ALA. The girls threw her a good-bye party complete with Hello Kitty napkins and plates. (Her favorite) She was so excited. I'M SORRY BETH! (But's it's not like I'll never see you again as you are a Bride's Helper!)

Productive Weekend
This was definitely one of my more productive weekends and Monday's in awhile. I managed to get all of Stef's invitations and RSVP's cut. I designed by RSVP's and have a template. I sent out invitations for my Market Day Gourmet Party. I traced the corner for all my invitations and found a method that will work well to get the corners cut. Breakfast, shower, and dinner with Stef and Josh went smoothly and successfully. Worked on the Awards database.
Then today, I caught up with Krystal about her weekend in Terre Haute. I got useless UPS Bob in here to attempt to fix the computer and wound up getting a new PC, and began entering all the addresses back in. I helped sort the mail for the whole building. Ran quite a few copy jobs. And took care of some wedding planning.
Yes, all in all I would say I have been ultra productive... just in time to go home and work on my shower invitation. How did I fill my time before all this wedding planning?!? I really don't remember.

Invitations
Do you realize how much work invitations are? And not only that, but how many different kinds there are? Rehearsal dinner invitation, wedding invitations, shower invitations. Then there's the RSVP's and the thank you's. Plus, after you design the thing (which takes weeks) then you have to cut them. So, I've been cutting my invites as well as Stef's. Basically the paper cutter and I have gotten to know each so well, that I could care less if I see it again for another few decades. Basically I'm saving boatloads of money by making my own invitations and such, but the headache it's causing me is making think it might've been easier to outsource the job.
Access: Friend or Foe
So, until Beth and I were forced to create an Awards Database, I loved Access. It can do basically anything you want, look anyway you want. It's great. But lately, especially since Beth is leaving me and we are forced to create this thing in record time; I hate it. It's not cooperating at all. Just when we think we've fixed it, we haven't. We tried unbound boxes, text boxes, look-up wizards... nothing is working. So, I think I'm about to tell them all they will need to hire someone else expertise on this one because we're through.

Big Steps (and little ones)
So I got a raise... finally. I'm excited, but hoping for more (of course).
I went grocery shopping... AGAIN!!! This must be a new record. Shaun and I made hamburgers with mac & cheese with tater tots. I dipped my tater tots and mac & cheese in A1. Shaun said that was quite possibly the grossest thing he's ever witnessed. Then, the fact the I eat cold mac & cheese came up, and he said I'm the ONLY person in the world that eats mac & cheese cold. I'm looking for another.
I picked up my bridesmaid dress for Stef's wedding. I tried it on; it's too big. Which is good and bad. The color is not as bad as I guess I thought it was, but I still doubt I'll wear this thing ever again.
Shaun and I had a successful pre-marriage counseling session... more things to think about. Only 2 more sessions left!

Ramblings
I've been sick the last 3 days. My head feels as though it's not really part of my body, but merely floating above my shoulder. Yet, at the same time it feels very heavy. Basically, I'm just sick. I missed work yesterday, and then get to work today to have Leonard tell me both copiers are down. I mean, I leave the guy alone for one day... and look what I come back to. Then, I spent most of the day getting yelled at for being there and everyone telling me to go home, so I did at 2:30. Since then, I haven't been able to sleep and have a throbbing headache.
I actually went grocery shopping the other day, believe it or not. You probably don't believe it, and that's fine, just ask Shaun. I bought things that actually go together, and things I could take for lunch... what a concept. It's worked out quite well. Of course Monday the Papa John's truck came, and I had to stop. I don't think I've mentioned the Papa John's truck before. This truck parks in our parking lot and sells medium pizza's for $5! What a deal!
The Schwann's man comes to work and brings your order directly to the fridge/ freezer. Now they have this system where you can place your order the day before online and then earn points for free stuff! What is there not to love about my job.
Speaking of my job, I went to an interview Monday for a different job. Turned out to be not what I was hoping for... alas. Well... off to try to take a nap.
